After a stint as Yahoo!' Inc.'s in-house SEO Evangelist, their program is now so good that I was laid off in their February 2008 cuts. This means, I am currently for hire and entertaining offers.
Seeking:
- A position as the in-house SEO leader and evangelist within a large corporation, ideally with multiple Internet properties.
- Titles tend to fall in: VP/Director/Sr. Manager of SEO (SEO Manager in some instances)
- The company who can offer a 4 day work-week with
only 3 days in the office is going to be very alluring. Ditto for telecommuting.
- A couple of SEO industry startups and strategic partnerships have surfaced and are in discussion, so that is also of interest.
Relocation:
- Definitely an option, and willing to go abroad.
- Most attractive markets: Southern California and Western Europe
- Least attractive markets: Anything cold, but for the right offer I'll bundle up
Timeline:
- There isn't a huge rush, which means I’m not trying to close a deal this week. I'm working on a few projects for the in-house SEO community and am enjoying the time off.
- For February it's only phone interviews as I'm traveling and working on other projects. In-person interviews can happen in March and I'll probably look to make a decision, if the right job is on the table, in late March.
- All this being said – there are things that would make me accept something right away.
