I'm happy to report that I'll be moving to Business.com as their Director of Search Engine Optimization. Very exciting, to say the least. I love my current employer, Enterprise Rent-A-Car; however, I hit a glass ceiling because I wanted to stay in search. Unfortunately, it was becoming clear that in order for my career to progress, I had to leave search. I found my calling and I'm staying in search, so I had to hit the market.
Most of my future posts will likely be about what to do when joining a company to SEO in-house for the first time. I launched SEO at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and now I'll be launching SEO in-house at Business.com. Having done this before, I've got the playbook and will start slowling oozing out the juicy tidbits and lessons learned.
For those looking to jump ship, I'll make my next post about lessons learned while looking for an SEO job.
In the meantime, let me know what you've done - what worked, what didn't, or what is the one piece of advice you would give to anyone? I'll pull that into my next post and give you the kudos (and a link!).
